IPA
The objective of the research and development projects is to identify and exploit automation and rationalization potentials in order to strengthen international competitiveness by making manufacturing sequences cheaper and more environmental-friendly, and also to improve the work place situation. Fraunhofer has a strong experience in the fields of virtual reality, manufacturing engineering and organization research and will therefore offer a unique intersection of DiFac relevant competencies. Fraunhofer IPA developed a number of collaborative VR environments since 1992, including distributed CAVE and HoloBench networks as well as a factory planning table with a multi-user interface. Within manufacturing, Fraunhofer IPA offers services from detailed automation solutions up to entire factory planning. Organization research includes organization restructuring and business process re-engineering, including industrial design and engineering processes.
